In Greek: σάλτσα σοκολάτας, pronounced SAHLT-sah sok-oh-LAH-tas
This chocolate sauce can be used as a topping for ice cream, fruit, or pastries.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups of unsweetened cocoa
- 7/8 cup of water
- 1 2/3 cups of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Preparation:
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan, stir well, and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Once cooled, sauce can be used immediately or stored in a jar. It does not need to be refrigerated.
Yield: approximately 2 cups
