Perhaps easier to find commercially as ditali and ditalini (with the added word "rigati" if it has ridges), this short macaroni is another soup pasta frequently found in Greek soup and stew recipes. The pieces are less than 1/2" long. The photo is of handmade kofto. This is the pasta of choice in the Greek recipe for Pasta with Octopus.
