Whether you're making Thiples (Honey-Drizzled Spirals) or Xerotigana (Honey-Dipped Spirals), they will be fried in hot oil.

(Apologies for steam in the photos.)

Using a spatula, place the spiral in the hot oil. Place the tines of a fork in the middle of the spiral and turn to keep the spiral shape. The dough will have a tendency to open up as it puffs, and using the fork to turn will help keep the shape.

Fry to light golden brown. Drain and continue per recipe instructions.
