Pita bread is used to make pita wraps and sandwiches, but it is also wonderful as a bread with meals and a scoop for dips; however, it does need to be toasted or crisped. Start with your own homemade pita bread or buy it at the store. This works wonderfully with plain or whole wheat pita - the flat bread type or the pocket pita type.

You may be tempted to add salt and other herbs, but try it plain first. You may be surprised at how delicious it tastes!

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Pita bread (any type)
  • olive oil

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 400° F.

Brush both sides of the pita bread with olive oil. Cut the bread into quarters (to use as bread with a meal) or smaller wedges (to use with dips and spreads).

Place bread on cookie sheets and bake for 5-6 minutes. Turn bread over and bake for 3-5 minutes longer until a rich golden brown.
