In Greek: φρουτοσαλάτα, pronounced froo-toh-sah-LAH-tah

A simple combination of favorite seasonal fruits, this recipe is a summer favorite. In Greece, fruit and fruit salads are a favorite ending to a meal, and can also eaten as a snack or light meal. Serve with your favorite cheeses.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 Golden Delicious apples
  • 1 Granny Smith apple
  • 2 Anjou (green) pears
  • 3 nectarines
  • 3 bananas
  • 4 kiwi fruits (firm)
  • juice of 4 oranges with pulp
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Preparation:

Note: In Greece, we peel the fruit, but except for the kiwi fruit and bananas, it isn't necessary.

Wash and peel the fruit. Cut into fairly small pieces. Place in a large salad bowl. Mix orange juice and honey and pour over the fruit. Toss and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Serve in individual bowls.
