The Eastern Orthodox Church follows a modified Julian calendar, different than the rest of Christendom, which means that Orthodox Easter often falls on a different date. In 2009, western Christian faiths will observe Easter on April 12th, and the Eastern Orthodox will celebrate this holiest of holidays on April 19th.
In the Greek Orthodox faith, Easter is the most significant religious observation of the year, and celebrations overflow with traditional foods.
Of course, food is food - and great food is always a welcomed addition to any table - Lenten, Paschal, or other!
Whenever you observe Lent and Easter, take advantage of the wonderful tastes offered up by the Greek tradition.
