Manouri me Frouta: Manouri Cheese with Honey, Walnuts, and Fruit

From Nancy Gaifyllia, for About.com

In Greek: μανούρι με φρούτα, pronounced mah-NOO-ree meh FROO-tah

This light dessert can be served immediately following a meal or an hour later, with equal success. If manouri cheese is not available, substitute with a Greek strained yogurt (or make your own strained yogurt from commercial brands).

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 7 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 ounces of manouri cheese
  • 1/8 cup of honey
  • 3 tablespoons of walnut halves
  • 1 fresh apple, sliced
  • 1 fresh pear, sliced

Preparation:

Toast the walnuts on an ungreased cookie sheet for 6 minutes in a 375F (190C) oven. Place the slice of manouri on a serving plate, pour the honey over the cheese and top with the walnuts. Placed the sliced fruit around the cheese.

Yield: Serves 2
