Put Your Shoes on the Table

Tuesday May 16, 2006
Normally, shoes on the dining table wouldn't meet anyone's etiquette standards, but this is an exception. The name of this dish is Melitzanes Papoutsakia, which means "little eggplant shoes" in Greek, because of the way it looks. Eggplant halves are filled with a ground meat mixture, covered with a béchamel sauce and topped off with a slice of tomato sprinkled with cheese. Follow easy step-by-step directions, and toss out the etiquette book when you bring these tasty "little shoes" to your table.
