Variation on a Theme: Tzatziki with Tomato
I am always on the lookout for different versions of Greek recipes (and for blogs about Greek food) and I came across Cathy Ipcizade's recipe for tzatziki with tomato and dill on the blogs at Families.com. It sounded good, so I had to try it. The recipe builds on the basics of traditional tzatziki (thick creamy yogurt, diced cucumber, and garlic) with the additions of chopped fresh dill and seeded, diced tomato. A veritable yogurt salad!
I use homegrown tomatoes, which often have a thick skin, so I peeled the tomato first.
It's a lovely dip - and a pretty dish - but when I make it again, I'll use about half the quantity of dill. To my taste, it was a little overpowering.
